Independant Handbag Designer Awards

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the 10th annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards as a guest of one of the judges, my dear friend Dawn DelRusso. Designers from all over the world submit their bags to be chosen in categories such as Best Handmade to be selected by a panel of esteemed judges like Michael Kors, Monica Botkier and Trina Turk. I even had the honor of meeting Trina Turk!!! She is one of my favorite designers not to mention totally humble and super sweet.

Getting dressed for this event was quite the process might I add. After changing about 15 times and half of my closet on my floor I ended up with a high waist mini skirt and light blue off the should top from Forever21. I wanted to wear something that was sophisticated enough for the city yet edgy enough for my personality. So I popped the muted colors of the skirt and top with my new bright orange heels from Zara (that I purchased from Ebay for only $25) The bag needed to be a statement piece therefore I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show off my moms collection of woven leather handbags #prouddaughter ! Since the off the should top shows a lot of bare skin on top, it was perfect to layer a couple necklaces. Check out Dawn's Guideline to layering necklaces here. And of course the last component was my arm party which picked up every color I was wearing :)
